بلوچستان سے تعلق رکھنے والی سینئر گائناکالوجسٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹرعائشہ صدیقہ عالمی تنظیم فیڈریشن آف گائناکالوجی اینڈ آبسٹیٹرکس (فیگو) کی بلامقابلہ ٹرسٹی بن گئیں۔
قابل فخر بات یہ ہے کہ فیگو کے ٹرسٹی کے عہدے پر فائز ہونے والی ڈاکٹر عائشہ صدیقہ پاکستان کی تاریخ میں پہلی خاتون ہیں جنہیں یہ اعزاز حاصل ہوا۔
اے آر وائی نیوز کے پروگرام باخبر سویرا میں ڈاکٹر عائشہ صدیقہ نے اپنے اس اعزاز کی اہمیت اور فیگو کے انتخابات سے متعلق اہم باتیں بیان کیں۔
انہوں نے بتایا کہ یہ ایوارڈ طبی شعبے میں نمایاں کارکردگی اور خدمات کے اعتراف میں دیا جاتا ہے۔ یہ میرا نہیں بلکہ بلوچستان سمیت پاکستانی میڈیکل کمیونٹی کے لیے بھی بہت بڑا اعزاز ہے۔
ڈاکٹر عائشہ صدیقہ نے کہا کہ فیگو کی بنیاد 1954 میں جنیوا میں ڈالی گئی، فیگو دنیا بھر کی گائناکالوجی اور زچگی سے متعلق تنظیموں کا سب سے بڑا عالمی ادارہ ہے۔
فیگو کی جنرل اسمبلی میں 142 ممالک کی نمائندگی ہوتی ہے اور صرف 10 نمایاں شخصیات کو ٹرسٹی کے طور پر منتخب کیا جاتا ہے اور تقریباً 82 سال بعد پاکستان پہلی بار اس الیکشن میں ٹرسٹی کے انتخاب کا اہل قرار پایا ہے۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ بد قسمتی سے پاکستان وہ واحد ملک ہے جس میں دوران زچگی خواتین کی اموات کا تناسب سب سے زیادہ ہے اور ہم اس پلیٹ فارم سے پاکستان کے اس مسئلے پر قابو پانے کی پوری کوشش کریں گے۔
