برطانوی میڈیا کے مطابق رشی سونک نے 2019 سے لے کر 2023 تک اپنی 47 لاکھ کی آمدنی پر 1 ملین برطانوی پاؤنڈ ٹیکس ادا کیا۔
برطانوی وزیر اعظم رشی سونک پر اپنے ٹیکس ریٹرن کی تفصیلات جاری کرنے کے حوالے سے ٹوری اراکین دباؤ ڈال رہے تھے، انہیں خدشہ تھا کہ اس معاملے پر پارٹی گیٹ کے دوران سابق وزیر اعظم بورس جانسن اراکین میں بدگمانی پیدا کر سکتے ہیں۔
برطانوی پارلیمان میں رشی سونک کو امیر ترین رکن تصور کیا جاتا ہے جس کے باعث حزب اختلاف اکثر انہیں تنقید کا نشانہ بھی بناتی رہی ہے۔
رشی سونک سیاست میں آنے سے قبل فنانس کے شعبے میں کام کرتے تھے، ان کی خاندان کی ملکیت میں نارتھ یارکشائر کے علاقے میں گریڈ 2 کے مینر ہاؤس سمیت کئی پراپرٹیز شامل ہیں۔
فرانس کے اپنے حالیہ دورے کے دوران فرینچ صدر سے ملاقات کے موقعے پر پوچھے گئے ایک سوال کے جواب میں رشی سونک کا کہنا تھا کہ وہ بہت مصروف رہے ہیں، لیکن جلد ہی اپنے ٹیکس ریٹرن جاری کر دیں گے۔
یاد رہے کہ چند ہفتے قبل پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس میں گفتگو کرتے ہوئے لیبر پارٹی کے ایک رکن نے برطانوی وزیر اعظم کی جانب سے ٹیکس ریٹرن جاری نہ کرنے پر سوالات اٹھاتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ عوام سیاست میں شفافیت دیکھنا چاہتے ہیں، خاص طور پر جب وزیر اعظم برطانوی تاریخ کے امیر ترین وزیر اعظم ہوں تو تحفظات اور بڑھ جاتے ہیں۔
یہ بھی یاد رہے کہ اس سے قبل 2022 میں رشی سونک کے بطور چانسلر خدمات سرانجام دیتے وقت بھی ان کے اور ان کے خاندان کے مالی معاملات میڈیا کی خبروں کی زینت بنے تھے۔
